Nostalgia 77 "Everything Under the Sun"

Nostalgia 77 is producer composer Ben Landin.
I want to say he is from England and attended Oxford, but at the time I wrote this, I could not find the articles in which I first read that.

Instead I'll tell you he works with sample and live musicians performing pieces he written to meld them all back together in a mellow downtempo jazz groove. You find him filed in the electronica section of most music stores, and finally, starting to appear in jazz sections as well.

"Everything Under the Sun" is a bit of a departure from his previous work. Still filled with mellow grooves, he brings in vocals for the first time with Lizzy Parks and Beth Rowley performing on this album. A quick easy reference would be The Cinematic Orchestra's "Ma Fluer" album, only with far stronger jazz ribbons throughout.

This album did not become my favorite work because I prefer the danker, dark rhythms and beats of his debut album "The Garden", but it is a solid album and in my rotation. Another interesting note, Ben does not actually perform on this album as he has in the past, which though still written and produced by Ben, still gives it that slightly different feel. And after you still can't get enough Nostalgia 77 and have burned through his other albums, grab the Nostalgia 77 Octet with a full line up of musicians.
