I was recetnly in Japan and stumbled across this band. Currently they have the top selling album there, so I figured 'why not?'.
Its not J-pop, but it is poppy. If your looking for comparasons, I'd say its rooted in the Beatles, but has a more acousitic folk/pop sound. If you've ever heard of the band, Plumb, that's who they sound like.
The lyrics are a mesh of English and Japanese, literally. Its really hard to follow the music if you don't know any Nihongo. However, the melodies have pretty good hooks, especailly their singe, "Love Smile".
The funny thing is, "Early Times" is realy a best-of CD. I guess given the language barrier, Love Psychedelico's future in the west seems bleak at the moment. Its too bad. They are very radio friendly.
